Who We Are
RESCUE | REHABILITATE | ADOPT | EDUCATE
Parrots are brilliant, long-lived beings—curious, social, and often misunderstood. With lifespans that can stretch for decades and care needs as complex as their personalities, many parrots are surrendered or rehomed again and again—an average of five times in their lives. Some even outlive the people who first called them family.
Rhode Island Parrot Rescue is the only 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the state solely devoted to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of exotic birds. From our home base in Rhode Island, we serve birds and adoptive families throughout New England.
Re-established in 2016 as a small but passionate rescue, our dedicated team provides daily care to every bird who comes through our doors. We also educate adopters to ensure each bird transitions into a home equipped to meet their emotional and physical needs—so that bird and human can truly thrive together.
We dream of a world where rescues like ours are no longer needed. Until then, we remain their voice, their hands, and their safe place to land.
“Everyone here puts their hearts and souls into the rescue. Truly wonderful people with an amazing mission. They love every bird that comes through their doors, giving them the very best care. They want the very best for the birds and their new families. Extremely thorough and go above and beyond including education and any other questions or concerns no matter how much time has passed since you have adopted. Without hesitation we would adopt again(we sure plan on it!)”
— D. Shelvey
“If I was a parrot and needed to be rescued, this is the place I would want to be! The quality of care is of utmost importance for the health and well being of the birds staying at this rescue.”

“Excellent bird rescue -- best place in the state to help and find the bird of your dreams.”
— Stefanie B.
“ This rescue has more heart then people in the world. The staff are passionate and knowledgeable about the feather children they care for. I adopted my Amazon from RIPR. Without RIPR hundreds of parrots would be in despair. Give a piece of yourself as a volunteer or monetarily. You will fill your soul in the most surprising way. Thank you RIPR! You are truly appreciated!”
