When your information is submitted it will be sent to a team coordinator, who will contact you to conduct a phone interview and determine if a parrot is the right fit for your lifestyle. We will respond to your application via email to schedule a good time for the phone interview.

  1. If the telephone interview determines that a parrot might be a good fit for you, we will schedule your first visit to the rescue.

  2. During your first visit to our facility in West Warwick, RI, you will receive the grand tour and meet the flock.

  3. Next, we will conduct a home visit to ensure that the parrot will be living in a safe and clean environment. (There is a $35.00 travel fee to cover travel expenses for anyone living more than 20 miles from the rescue.)

  4. Finally, we will schedule bonding visits at our facility in West Warwick, RI. During these visits, you will learn proper care and interact with the birds, and find the appropriate match.

Connecting or bonding may take many visits over the course of a few weeks or a few months. It depends on you and the parrots. We want to see a good match between our applicant and the parrot. In some cases the parrot will choose and that makes for a successful match.

We will make recommendations for you to volunteer and attend online classes if we feel you need more time or information. All of these steps are put in place to help YOU and the bird live a happy, healthy life together for many years to come.
